Before my visit, I considered Port Dickson another beach destination for children and dirty beaches. However, my recent day trip completely changed my perception. I discovered that Port Dickson is much more than its beaches. Beautiful nature reserves, quiet beaches, and interactive centres and museums are fun activities we can do and are worth visiting repeatedly. The stunning coastal scenery and richness in flora and fauna added a whole new dimension to my understanding of this destination.

Port Dickson Ornamental Fish Centre
I have visited Port Dickson many times and never knew about this place until my friend introduced me. It’s a conservation and educational centre set up by the government, a Division under the Department of Fisheries Malaysia, Ministry of Agriculture & Food Industries that looks after marine parks and marine protection, management of fishery resources, ecosystem conservation and biodiversity, and public awareness. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many beautiful marine creatures that are well looked after, not to mention my favourite sea turtles! The best part is free of entrance! Visit before it became too popular!
Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest
This lush forest reserve is ideal for hiking and bird-watching, providing a break from the beach scene. Again, it is free of entrance. Taking a walk and soaking up the tropical jungle is lovely before reaching the lighthouse. For those who are up to more challenging walks, there are many route options to choose from, leading you to beautiful and secluded beaches and tourist-free spots.

This historical site is educational and picturesque, offering panoramic coastline views.

I drove to the beach and parked near the coast. I wish I had brought my BBQ and picnic set to enjoy dinner and sunset here!
